Position Overview
We are seeking a Systems Administrator with active Secret clearance and hands-on expertise in Microsoft Hyper-V and Azure Arc to support classified hybrid cloud operations at our Suffolk, VA facility. This role focuses on maintaining secure virtualization platforms and extending Azure governance to on-premises and edge systems in a DoD-compliant environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and troubleshoot Hyper-V clusters (2019/2022) hosting classified workloads, including failover clustering, live migration, and shielded VMs.
- Implement and manage Azure Arc-enabled servers for centralized policy enforcement, monitoring, and updates across air-gapped and connected networks.
- Harden systems per DISA STIGs, apply security patches, and maintain ATO documentation.
- Configure Hybrid Azure AD Connect and integrate with on-premises Active Directory in restricted domains.
- Automate deployments using PowerShell DSC, Ansible playbooks, and Azure Arc custom scripts.
- Monitor performance with System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) and Azure Monitor agents.
- Support VM lifecycle management (provisioning, backups via Azure Backup Server, DR testing).
- Collaborate with cybersecurity teams during audits and incident response.
- Document configurations, SOPs, and topology diagrams in accordance with RMF controls.
- Active DoD Secret clearance (must be current and transferable).
- 3+ years of Hyper-V administration in production environments (clustering, Replica, Storage Spaces Direct).
- 1+ years of Azure Arc experience (onboarding servers, applying Azure Policies, Update Management).
- Proficiency in Windows Server 2019/2022, PowerShell (7.x), and WMI/CIM.
- DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+ CE) – required at start.
- Experience with classified networks (NIPR/SIPR segregation, cross-domain solutions).
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate or Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate.
- Familiarity with Azure Stack HCI or Azure Government Cloud.
- Knowledge of DISA STIG Viewer and ACAS/Nessus scanning.
- Prior JKO or Joint Staff support in Suffolk, VA.
- College Degree or 4-6 years of IT experience
- Hybrid schedule: 40–60% remote (2–3 days/week WFH) after successful completion of 90-day on-site onboarding and issuance of government-furnished telework equipment.
- On-site days required for SCIF access, hardware maintenance, or classified testing.
- Home office must meet DoD telework standards (dedicated workspace, CAC reader, approved ISP, annual inspection).
