Position Overview
Innovatus Technology Consulting is seeking an experienced Information System Security Engineer (ISSE) with an active DoD Secret Clearance to design, implement, and manage comprehensive security solutions across a range of federal systems. This role focuses on capturing and refining operational and security requirements and ensuring robust security implementations to safeguard systems and data. The ideal candidate will be experienced in security engineering practices, adept in managing system configurations, and proactive in identifying and mitigating vulnerabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Security Engineering: Design and implement security solutions, ensuring security requirements are met through purposeful architecture and configuration.
- Requirements Analysis: Capture and refine information security operational requirements and translate them into actionable security controls and configurations.
- Implementation of Security Controls: Develop, configure, and maintain security controls, ensuring the systems’ integrity and compliance with security best practices.
- System Configuration and Management: Oversee secure configuration of systems, applying updates, patches, and configuration changes as needed to maintain optimal security.
- Vulnerability Assessment: Conduct vulnerability scans and security assessments, coordinating with cross-functional teams to address identified risks and weaknesses.
- Continuous Monitoring and Risk Management: Monitor systems for compliance and security status, managing risks by implementing necessary updates and changes in configurations.
- Documentation and Reporting: Develop and maintain documentation on security controls, configurations, vulnerabilities, and mitigation actions, ensuring transparency and accountability.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work with developers, system administrators, and stakeholders to ensure security requirements are incorporated into system lifecycles and operational processes.
Target Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or an equivalent technical field from an accredited college or university.
Target Experience
- Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in information security engineering, focusing on implementing security controls, managing system configurations, and mitigating vulnerabilities.
- Strong experience in capturing and refining security requirements and integrating security measures within systems and infrastructure.
Required Skills
- Clearance: Active DoD Secret Clearance (required).
- Security Engineering and Controls: Expertise in designing and implementing security controls and aligning them with operational requirements.
- Technical Knowledge: Proficiency with security tools and technologies, along with knowledge of current security standards, frameworks, and best practices.
- Configuration and Vulnerability Management: Strong experience in secure system configurations, vulnerability scanning, and patch management.
- Documentation and Communication: Strong documentation and communication skills, with the ability to convey technical details to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications: Industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, or similar.
- Experience in Government or Defense Sector: Prior experience supporting government agencies or defense-related projects.
- Knowledge of Compliance Standards: Familiarity with compliance standards such as NIST, FISMA, and DoD security protocols.
